Undergraduate Research Opportunities

*Note: We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2010.  The deadline for this is December 4, 2009.

Gaining research experience as an undergraduate can be a very unique and rewarding experience.  It is important to find a lab that interests you in order to reap the most benefits from your experience. Browse our site to find out more about what we do and the kind of research we conduct.

Undergraduate students interested in becoming research assistants at the Knowledge in Development Lab can do so by signing up for PSY 490/491 course credit or by volunteering. We require a 2 semester commitment as well as a minimum of 9 hours spent in the lab per week.

What to expect as a Research Assistant at the KID Lab:

    • RAs are involved in recruiting subjects, setting up and running experiments, as well as coding and analyzing data.
    • RAs are required to attend a bi-weekly meeting where we discuss issues related to the lab as well as current research topics.  Our meetings for Spring 2010 will take place on Fridays between 11:00- 12:30.
    • RAs will work both individually and as a part of a team.
    • RAs have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in psychology research.

What we expect from Research Assistants at the KID Lab:

    • RAs must be reliable, conscientious, friendly, and punctual.
    • RAs must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.
    • RAs must have experience in working with children.
    • It is advisable that RAs have blocks of free time during the morning/afternoon because of the nature of doing research at schools.
