Scholarly Interests

I have three broad areas of scholarship that are supported by extramural funding and involve collaborations with many faculty, graduate students, and community colleagues. Each of these interests is anchored in developmental systems theory and biopsychosocial approaches to the organization of behavior. These are:

1) the etiology of alcoholism (and other forms of substance abuse) and co-occurring forms of psychopathology.

2) the effectiveness of community prevention programs for enhancing developmental outcomes during the first six years of life.

3) the effectiveness of university-community partnerships for elaborating and sustaining community change.
