The SARA Project is funded by the Crime Victim Services Commission (CVSC ) of the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH). The main focus of the project is to conduct systematic analyses of Michigan’s sexual assault services, including, but not limited to, medical forensic exams. The SARA Project also provides state policy makers with information regarding the current status of sexual assault services and makes recommendations based on empirical research, for improving services consistent with emerging best practices. Built into its mission, the SARA Project serves as a conduit for collaboration among many state partners through coordinated contact and communications.
Rebecca Campbell, PhD is the Principal Investigator and leader of the SARA Project team. She is a Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University, and an experienced researcher on community services for victims of sexual assault, as well as the practice of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs).
The SARA Project team includes professionals and graduate students with extensive experience in violence against women research, intervention and advocacy services, legal and medical issues, and program evaluation. more >>
