MSU Psychology mourns the passing of office services staff Rachelle Gladding

Rachelle Gladding smiles at the camera while outside in front of the MSU Psychology building Rachelle Gladding passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2023, at the age of 33. 

Raised in Portland, Michigan, Rachelle was a 2008 graduate of Portland High School. She pursued her education at Lansing Community College and graduated from Davenport University with a bachelor's degree in human resource management.  

Rachelle was known by many for her positivity and optimism. She loved time spent with family and friends, often taking cross-country trips to see loved ones. She started bowling at age four and was a standout on the High School bowling team advancing to state finals. As an adult, Rachelle's passion was traveling. She took countless day trips around Michigan visiting unique places such as dairy stores and discovering new restaurants. Rachelle was a sports card enthusiast and loved attending various sporting events, especially MSU Basketball and the Detroit Tigers. 

Rachelle worked closely with MSU Psychology faculty, staff, and students in an administrative role since September 2021. Rachelle was also currently serving on the Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee within the department. Rachelle will be remembered at MSU for her kindness, sense of humor, and dedication to her job.  

“Rachelle has been a mainstay in room 262 helping faculty, staff and students with their service requests and serving those coming into the office. She was an incredibly kind and gentle soul. She will be greatly missed,” said Psychology Chair Dr. Kevin Ford. 

The arrangements for Rachelle include a visitation on Monday November 27th from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8 PM at Lehman Funeral Home in Portland.  The funeral mass is on Tuesday November 28th at 1:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Portland.
