The Department of Psychology at Michigan State University is dedicated to advancing psychological science through multidisciplinary research and providing a world-class education for our undergraduate and graduate students. As part of the College of Social Science at a land grant university, our department’s broader mission is to conduct research that transforms lives and inspires leaders on our campus, in Michigan communities, and across the world.
It is my honor to serve as the chair of such a productive and well-functioning department, one that represents a true center of excellence at MSU. Made up of over 50 faculty members, 60 graduate students, 20 staff, and 2,200 undergraduate students, we are one of the largest and most active departments in the university.
As an educational department and a place of employment and research, the Department of Psychology is committed to creating clear and open pathways for all students, staff, and faculty to work, learn, and succeed at MSU. Together, they ensure that every member of our community has the support and tools they need to thrive.
Research in the Department of Psychology focuses on understanding human beings— from the brain, the mind, and the person to how group and cultural identities, community context, and organizations impact a person. We offer six areas of research for on-campus graduate learning, and online programs in both Work and Organizational Psychology and Program Evaluation.
