MSU psychology professor recognized in ‘2022 Highly Cited’ list

Eleven Michigan State University researchers have been recognized in the 2022 Highly Cited Researchers List compiled by Clarivate Analytics.

 

The list identifies individuals from across the globe who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their chosen field or fields of research over the past decade. 

 

According to the report, this list is drawn from the highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in Clarivate’s Web of Science citation index. 

 

MSU’s recognized researchers:

 

Aaron McCright is a professor of sociology and chairperson of the Department of Sociology in the College of Social Science. His research investigates how interrelationships among scientific developments, political processes and social dynamics influence society’s capacity for recognizing and dealing with environmental degradation and technological risks.

 

David Roy is the interim director of the Center for Global Change and Earth Observations in the College of Social Science. His research interests include the development of remote-sensing and advanced computing methods to integrate satellite sensor data to map and characterize terrestrial global change, big satellite data processing, and the causes and consequences of land cover and land use change.

 

Gregg Howe is a University Distinguished Professor of biochemistry and molecular biology in the College of Natural Science. His internationally recognized research centers on plant hormone biology and understanding how plants respond to insect herbivory and other environmental stresses.

 

G. Philip Robertson is a University Distinguished Professor of ecosystem science in the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences. His research broadly addresses issues of agricultural sustainability, and his lab studies the ecology of field crop ecosystems and landscapes. 

 

James Tiedje is a University Distinguished Professor and the director of the MSU Center for Microbial Ecology in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. His work focuses on microbial ecology and antimicrobial resistance.

 

Jianguo “Jack” Liu is a University Distinguished Professor and the Rachel Carson Chair in Sustainability in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He serves as the director of the Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability and focuses on addressing complex human-environmental challenges through systems integration.

 

Morteza Mahmoudi is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology and Precision Health Program in the College of Human Medicine. His specific research interest is in nanomedicine and regenerative medicine for the development of new nano-based platforms for prevention and treatment of life-threatening conditions like cardiomyopathy and cancer.

 

Rufus Isaacs is a professor of entomology in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. His research supports pest management in Michigan berry crops through the development of monitoring, biocontrol and cultural control tactics.

 

Russell Johnson is an MSU Foundation Professor and associate professor of management in the Broad College of Business. His research examines the roles of motivation-, justice- and leadership-based processes that influence work attitudes and behaviors.

 

Richard Lucas is an MSU Foundation Professor in the College of Social Science. His research areas include happiness and subjective well-being, positive emotions, the effects of life events on life satisfaction, personality traits, extraversion and personality assessment.

 

Tomas Hult is a professor of marketing in the Broad College of Business. He is a thought leader and influential researcher in international business, marketing strategy, supply chain management and customer satisfaction.
