Changing the lives of Ingham County youth and MSU students through positive youth development
The Adolescence Diversion Program is an evidence-based program designed to promote positive youth development and prevent young people from re-entering the criminal justice system.
MSU students gain valuable hands-on experience working with community youth through an 18-week intervention. This two-semester experiential learning course allows MSU students to develop their professional skills in a supportive environment.
50 years of impact
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Adolescent Diversion Program is the first of its kind to take a strengths-based approach with the juvenile justice system.
The evidence for the effectiveness of the Adolescent Diversion Program is strong and longstanding: it reduces recidivism, is cost effective, and creates positive change in both the youth and the advocate-mentors.
