RESEARCH
My research encompasses two broad areas: cognition in close relationships and motivations for social media use. Across both domains, I frequently examine the influence of personality traits, particularly narcissism.
Cognition in Close Relationships
I am interested in how accurately people perceive their romantic partners, including how these perceptions may be affected by relationship stressors. Recently, I have explored the role of narcissism in these processes. Specifically, I investigate when narcissistic individuals elevate their partners to enhance their own status and when they derogate them to bolster their sense of superiority.
Social Media Use
My research explores how social media use is driven by both a need to belong and a need to present oneself to others. I examine how these motives shape social media behaviors, with a particular emphasis on how individuals navigate and portray their romantic relationships online.
