BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Krystin Martens is an Evaluation Specialist and the Director of Physical Literacy at the Michigan Fitness Foundation and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University. She holds a PhD in interdisciplinary evaluation from Western Michigan University. Dr. Martens began working in evaluation in 2003 focusing on multi-year, multi-site school-based health program, policy, and product (e.g., curriculum) evaluations. She has since conducted evaluations in an array of settings including international development and higher education. Her work has involved client organizations including the U.S. and Swiss National Science Foundations, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the European Commission’s Education and Culture Directorate General, and Heifer Project International. Beyond her current role working in the non-profit world, she has also been a sole practitioner, and worked in University-based evaluation centers. Her background as a certified K-12 teacher, corporate trainer, and coach have led to experiences set in many diverse professional, academic, and recreational settings working with people of all ages. She is a member of the American Evaluation Association, of the Michigan Association for Evaluation, and of the Australasian Evaluation Association where she served in 2018 and 2019 as the secretary of the Learning and Professional Practice committee. She has published in the Evaluation Journal of Australasia and the journal of Evaluation and Program Planning.
