RESEARCH

I study health equity issues pertaining to substance use and addiction. I do so mainly by applying intersectional, Indigenous, and community-engaged research approaches to identify and address health disparities in substance use research, program design, and clinical practice.

Additionally, I investigate novel treatments for chronic conditions among marginalized groups. For example, I am developing a line of research into how psychedelics can treat substance use and am investigating the health effects of cannabis on pain.

Finally, I conduct program evaluations on community mental health and philanthropic organizations' substance use programs. These evaluations ensure that programming is effective and, whenever possible, I provide road maps for ways programs can enhance health equity.
