Tell us about your background/experience!

For the past several years, I pursued a degree in psychology while working in manufacturing. I volunteered in an infant development lab during my undergraduate, which sparked my passion for psychological research. In manufacturing, I became acquainted with many workplace challenges. I was especially interested in problems having to do with teams and training. I became interested in how I might apply psychological research to addressing these issues in the workplace.

Why grad school?

My goal is to obtain an applied position making a positive contribution to the workplace. I would like to help make work a source of fulfillment for the people I interact with. I also greatly enjoy doing research! Graduate school can help me meet both of those needs.

What do you hope to research while you're here?

I’m primarily interested in teams and multi-team systems. I’m also interested in the development of effective training programs and techniques. I’m most interested in environments that are isolated, confined, and extreme, especially in terms of spaceflight. I would like to understand the processes of training and communication necessary for teams to function effectively under high stress conditions.

What do you love about Organizational Psychology?

I’m hoping to find out! I’ve enjoyed research in psychology so far, and I love the idea of applying that to helping people in the workplace.

In your free time, what do you like to do?

I like to read, hike, sculpt, and spend time with my family!
