Meet Amber Koepsell, a third-year psychology major and member of the Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI), a program at Michigan State University that was designed to support and empower women students with leadership aspirations.
Why do you study psychology?
I absolutely love learning about people’s minds and why we are the way we are! Understanding people is so interesting to me, and I feel it can help you in any situation/interaction.
What interested you about WLI, and what are you looking forward to this year?
I have always been a leader and not a follower, as my dad taught me. I applied to WLI to interact and network with like-minded strong women leaders. I am looking forward to connecting with a few new executive board members, hearing more insightful leaders speak, and meeting our newest student members to create friendships with!
What are your goals for the future?
My goal for the future is to graduate with my Bachelor of Science degree in December of 2025. After graduating, I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a PhD in I/O psychology. Outside of Psychology, I am double minoring in Leadership of Organizations and Entrepreneurship and Innovation. With that I hope to own and operate a small bakery one day!
Is there anyone at MSU that has helped you along your college journey?
I am very grateful for Dr. Amanda Guinot Talbot for everything she does for the WLI student cohort. It is an amazing opportunity for us young women leaders to learn and grow as individuals, and it is her who gave us this opportunity!
The WLI’s mission is to ignite women leaders while their vision is to advance leadership equity for women globally. The program aims to create a sustainable community by providing high quality programming for MSU’s students, faculty, and community.
