Now Accepting: Applications for the 2024 Faculty/Staff Award for Outstanding Contribution to J-DEI

The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, February 16th, 2024 at 5:00PM.

This award was created by the PSY J-DEI Committee to recognize the department’s faculty and staff’s outstanding contribution to the advancement of justice, diversity, equity and inclusion (J-DEI). 

Submissions may be made by faculty or staff members whose primary affiliation is in the Psychology Department at MSU. The award winner will be notified on March 15, 2024. The recipient will also be honored at the Joseph White Lecture that will be held on April 5th, 2024. The award is $500 and a certificate is also provided to the student.

Award Focus  

This award is given to a current faculty or staff member whose primary affiliation is with the Department of Psychology. The award recognizes the applicant’s record of service, teaching, or research that examines or advances justice, diversity, equity, and/or inclusion (JDEI). Although applicants’ overall career contributions will be considered, the reviewers will give primary consideration to contributions that take place during the nominee’s affiliation with the Department. 

Eligibility:

In order for the grant application to be considered, the applicant must be a faculty or staff member whose current primary affiliation is with the Department of Psychology at Michigan State University. Individuals who have received this award within the past 20 years are not eligible to apply.

How to submit: 

Nomination materials must be submitted electronically by Friday, February 16th, 2024. The review of applications and selection of the recipient will be undertaken by the J-DEI Committee's Award Subcommittee. Submissions will be evaluated on the impact of the applicants’ service, teaching or research on justice, diversity, equity, or inclusion, with special emphasis given to impacts on our campus and/or local communities. 

The Award: 

The award winner will be notified by March 15, 2024 and will receive $500 and a certificate suitable for framing.
